Betta Jobs Course

Do you need a new job?

There has never been a moment like this.

In a matter of weeks, 10% of us lost our job[i].

And a lot of those companies just went out of business.

The jobs aren’t coming back.

Dozens of major corporations are closing.

And thousands of small businesses.[ii]

All those workers, out of a job

What will all those people do?

What would you do?

What if you had to start over?

  • What if you had to do something different?
  • How will you convince that employer your skills are transferrable?
  • Would you be able to make the same amount of money?

Right now, there aren’t as many openings being advertised.

But businesses are hiring. Some jobs are never advertised!

  • What If you found a job where you made more money?

Your resume has to showcase your skills and abilities beyond just a list of past employment.

  • Putting products on the retail shelf and maintaining proper presentation is transferrable skills, whether it’s groceries or candles or electrical supplies.
  • The back end of a retail store is very much like a warehouse anywhere. You might need to gain forklift and high-lift skills, but the inventory management skills are transferrable.
  • Childcare and nanny skills have much in common with home care aides, particularly patients with memory issues.
    • Naps, help with feeding, getting them to the bathroom
    • Reading to them, singing simple songs,

These are simple examples.  Individual skills, like data entry, accounting with a spreadsheet, and editing documents for grammar and structure, are useful in a variety of occupations.

With the Better Jobs method, we teach

  • how to break down your job into individual tasks
  • how to find other jobs that use those same skills
  • How to get experience when you have no experience
  • How to showcase the top qualities most employers look for
  • How to get past the electronic screeners and into the hands of a person
  • Where to find good jobs with little competition

You will create the top essential documents for getting a job

You will learn the two essential scripts you should learn to find and get the job of your dreams

You will learn skills that will last a lifetime, so you are never without a job for long.

In just 6 weeks, you will be ready to transform your career & make more money.

The class includes a new lesson each week and the forms you need, and a group to get your questions answered.

What makes this approach different?

You probably have a resume. Every job center counselor tells you to write a resume, gives you the latest format.  They help you organize what you have, but did you give them the right information?

  • Does your resume have what it needs to get noticed?
  • Will it get past the initial screening, to even get noticed?

And the purpose of a resume? A resume by itself won’t get you the job.

… It gets you the interview.

The Betta Jobs approach helps you organize the information that can be used

  • in the job application (sometimes there is one)
  • for the resume
  • for the cover letter
  • for the job search speech
  • for the interview opening gambit

The research we guide you through helps you know what job to look for, and how much it normally pays, and when you can ask for a little more.

I used this information on my last job move.

After being fired for ‘not working out’ (it was good to leave), I was told to expect to be out of work 6-8 months.  I used these methods and had a job in 10 weeks.

He offered a rate I thought was a little low. I used the technique and asked for 20% more. They gave me 25% more, if I could be there in a week. I packed out an apartment, drove a thousand miles and was at his door the next Monday.

Ten weeks later I got a promotion that upped my salary another 15%.

I had the special skills they were looking for, but I was looking for jobs in the wrong place.

(A year later, I was looking at jobs, mostly out of curiosity, and found one that sounded interesting.  I love the job now.  The bump in pay also helps.)

What about you?

I can’t guarantee a big salary bump, but it’s likely you won’t get it unless you know where to look, and how to ask.

What’s included in the course?

Lesson one helps you get started in gathering the right information.  This is foundational to finding better and higher paying jobs.

The second session shows where to look for the hidden jobs, and how to use that search to make yours a better resume.

The third lesson is where you write.  You will write the first draft of the master resume and a tailored resume.  You will do the first draft cover letter, and learn why it might be the most important document in the job search arsenal.

Lesson 4 is when we introduce what to say when looking for a job.  You will learn which events are virtual job fairs where competition is rare.  We’ll discuss the ‘mini-resume’ and when to use it.  And which digital methods are just OK and which ones supercharge your search.

Next we discuss the interview process.

  • Common questions.
  • How to begin the interview, how to finish.
  • How to make an impression after the interview.
  • What to do if there’s food.
  • We’ll also touch on how to lose the job, to know what to avoid in the interview.
  • When to talk money and how to avoid talking about money too soon

In the wrap-up, we put the package together, practice, and look at the next steps.

Not by yourself

Along the way, I will have ‘office hours’ where I will be available to answer questions.  And we will have a Facebook group to give support and get questions answered. I’ll be in the group regularly.

You will have access to the group for 4 months, by which time many of you will be in the new job. There will be an option to continue long-term for those needing more time.

OK, you say.  This sounds good.  But how much is all this? Can I afford it?

It is a lot of value.

  • Templates and worksheets
  • Training
  • Methods
  • Coaching
  • Q&A sessions
  • Group support

This kind of class normally costs $5,000 per person. It’s worth it.

Suppose I teach you how to find a job that pays you an extra $1 an hour.

  • A full time job is roughly 2000 work hours a year.
  • 2000 hours x $1 is an extra $2000 a year

,,,and the year after, and every year after, with cost of living percent increases.

Every year.

For the rest of your career.

If you work another 20 years, and even if you never got another pay raise,

20 years x 2000 hours a year x $1 more an hour is an extra $40,000

And you will have the skills to get a promotion.  .

The promotion could be another $1 an hour, on top of the increase from the first job, another $2,000 more a year.

Experts tell me people now will change jobs 3 to 6 times in their career.  If you get a 5% pay bump each time, and work another 20 years, these skills could earn you $60,000 or more over your working life.  More if you work longer.

Would you spend $5,000 to get $60,000?

This class is a good value.

The normal way is by you spending a full day sitting in a conference room, and then they send you away to work it on your own.

This is virtual, and I don’t have to take off work to teach you.

I can offer this for $500 a person.  That’s a tremendous value.

Except this is an unusual situation.

Because we’re in the situation we’re in, I’m offering a founding member class for

$100

$20 a week to learn the skills, get the worksheets, find the jobs, and get your questions answered.  And the bonus 6th week to put it all together.
